Santo Domingo.– Congressman Román de Jesús requested this Tuesday the support of the plenary of the Chamber of Deputies for the approval of a resolution project that urges the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, to instruct the Ministry of Sports and Recreation (Miderec) to renovate and build sports facilities in the province of Monte Plata.
During his intervention in the session, the legislator stated that Monte Plata "has become the province of sports", highlighting that numerous Major League baseball players and outstanding athletes in various disciplines have emerged from that demarcation.
Jesús expressed that the conditioning of basketball courts, sports centers and the different baseball fields is an urgent need to guarantee decent spaces that promote sports development and keep young people away from vices.

The legislator also highlighted the economic impact that sport generates in the province, emphasizing that many professionalized athletes have made significant investments in their communities. Finally, De Jesús reiterated his call to the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, to arrange for the intervention of all sports facilities and the construction of new works in different communities of the province."Monte Plata has been the cradle of great athletes. It is essential that our young people have adequate facilities to continue growing and take advantage of the opportunities that sport offers," said the deputy.
