French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte, plan to present photographic and scientific evidence in a U.S. court to prove that she is a woman. The documents would serve to strengthen the lawsuit filed by the Macrons against the influential Candace Owens, after she promoted the idea that the French president's wife is a man.
According to the couple's lawyer, Tom Clare, who revealed this to the BBC, they plan to present this evidence to settle the story that has been going on for years. "It's a process she will have to go through in a very public way. But she is willing to do it. She is firmly determined to do whatever it takes to make things clear," the lawyer assured the British network.
Clare has stated that she will present "an expert testimony that will be scientific in nature" and, although she would not reveal, at this stage, its exact nature, she said that the couple was prepared to fully demonstrate "both generically and specifically" that the accusations are false. "If that discomfort and unease she feels in exposing herself in that way is what it takes to clarify things and stop this, she is 100% willing to take on that burden," she insists. And, regarding whether the Macrons would provide photos of Brigitte pregnant and raising her children, Clare has responded that they existed and would be presented to the court.
The American influencer, known for her support of Donald Trump and her transphobic statements, has repeatedly claimed that Brigitte Macron was born a man, under the name Jean-Michel Trogneux, who is actually the brother of the First Lady. These accusations have spread especially through the series “Becoming Brigitte”, consisting of eight episodes published this year, and have had a wide impact on social media and media outlets aligned with the far-right.
The origin of the hoax dates back to 2021, when the French YouTube channel Médiumnisation, dedicated to clairvoyance, broadcast an interview with Natasha Rey, a woman who presented herself as a journalist. In that conversation, Rey, after years of supposed investigation, claimed that Brigitte Macron was actually her brother Jean-Michel.

This would have assumed the identity of his sister after her death. For more than two hours, the interview addressed details about the first lady's family, alleged surgical interventions and the motherhood of her children, as well as divulging personal information about her brother. The story, driven by Amandine Roy, head of the channel, and Rey, quickly went viral and became a trend on social media, especially on accounts linked to the far right.
