Santo Domingo.- The Universidad Federico Henríquez y Carvajal (UFHEC) announced the opening of the Center for High Technology and Artificial Intelligence (CATIA), an initiative that seeks to develop solutions that respond to social challenges in education, health, environment, public management, agriculture, urban mobility and industry.
The national rector of UFHEC, Alberto Ramírez, pointed out that CATIA will house specialized laboratories in AI development, robotics, immersive virtual reality applied to health, as well as a server room and climate-controlled data center, designed for high-performance research and inter-institutional projects.
Ramírez pointed out that “the CATIA will allow to articulate efforts with the public and private sectors and international organizations, promoting the training of highly specialized talent and the generation of technological solutions applied to the main challenges of the Dominican Republic”.
He explained that the center contemplates priority lines of work such as AI-assisted medical diagnosis, educational analytics, environmental monitoring, sustainable agriculture, smart cities, and predictive models of climate risk.
