Caracas.- The acting president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, announced this Wednesday that she declared March 17 as the National Baseball Day in the country, to commemorate the first victory of a national team in the World Baseball Classic after the final played this Tuesday with the United States.
During an event at the Miraflores presidential palace, in which ministers and members of the Government participated, Rodríguez said that he decreed this a holiday in homage to the new champions.
He added that he approved the creation of a 'Walk of Stars' in Plaza de la Juventud, in western Caracas, to highlight the players of the Venezuelan national team and that "each of their names shines on those stars".
This proposal, he added, he took it from the star Ronald Acuña Jr., who on Tuesday published on his Instagram account an image of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, in the United States, accompanied by the message: "A floor like this in Caracas with all our names" and those of "all those who were part of this".
"Please and thank you. That's all I want," added the Atlanta Braves player.
