Moca, Espaillat.– Residents and community leaders of the municipality of San Víctor denounce the advanced state of deterioration and the precarious conditions in which the polyclinic of Las Cumbres operates, in the province of Espaillat.

Among the main problems identified are the lack of medications, the lack of basic medical equipment, and the structural deterioration of the center, which puts at risk the health and safety of both staff and patients who come to receive care.

One of the most alarming aspects is the state of the roof, composed of corroded zinc sheets that have multiple holes, allowing water to filter through whenever it rains. Furthermore, the interior ceiling panels have large gaps, which further complicates the provision of services during adverse weather conditions.

Social activist Guanchi Comprés lamented the situation and pointed out that the health center does not have basic supplies such as glucometers or blood pressure monitors, which directly affects the care of people with conditions such as diabetes and hypertension.

“This polyclinic receives patients from more than 12 surrounding communities. It is unacceptable that it continues in these conditions without the authorities doing something,” expressed Comprés.

In that sense, he called on the National Health Service (SNS) and local and provincial authorities to urgently intervene in the healthcare center. In addition, he requested that part of the material resources that recently arrived in the province, including wood and aluzinc transported on three flatbed trucks, be allocated to the repair of this medical unit.

The residents insisted that they deserve a dignified space to receive medical attention, and they denounced the prolonged abandonment by the responsible institutions.
