Samaná.- The community and the tourism sector of Las Galeras have once again expressed their concern about the persistent lack of potable water, which has generated economic losses and operational difficulties for hotels, restaurants, and villas in this internationally recognized destination.

Despite announcements of improvements by the National Institute of Potable Water and Sewers (INAPA), the service continues to be intermittent and unreliable, affecting both residents and local businesses. As a result of the crisis, many merchants and establishment owners have had to resort to private tanker trucks, paying between 5,000 and 6,000 pesos for the supply, which represents a significant additional expense.

Although at specific times there have been reports of progress in the distribution of the service, as the weeks go by the situation deteriorates again, causing anxiety and frustration among those affected. The lack of a definitive solution is forcing the community to consider mobilizations and protests, demanding concrete answers.

From INAPA, the problem has been justified on different occasions by water turbidity, energy failures and other technical factors, but to date no structural plan has been established to guarantee the stability of the service.

The merchants and business owners of Las Galeras urgently call on the Director of INAPA, demanding an effective and sustainable solution to ensure the water supply in this important tourist area of the Dominican northeast.

They insist that they can no longer depend on meetings without concrete results, and that the situation requires immediate intervention to avoid further impacts on the economic and social development of the community.
