Luperón, Puerto Plata. – Puerto Plata deputy Fiordaliza Estévez expressed concern about the negative impact of the decree that declares 22 thousand kilometers of the Luperón area as a protected area.
Estévez pointed out that, due to this declaration, many investment projects in Luperón have been paralyzed, affecting key sectors such as tourism, construction, and commerce.
"Not even a supermarket can expand because it's within the protected area," he warned, underlining the urgency of a solution.
Faced with this situation, it proposes seeking a consensus to request the President of the Republic to modify the decree through executive action, thus avoiding a legislative process that could further delay the development of the municipality.
"If we unite as a people, we can achieve the liberation of areas without critical ecological value to promote economic growth," he stated.
The congresswoman reaffirmed her commitment to support the municipal authorities in this cause and warned that if a revision of the decree is not achieved, Luperón could stagnate in its urban and tourist development.
"This town deserves to move forward, with order and respecting the environment, but also with real opportunities," declared the legislator during the special program of Mia visión Televisión Nacional e Internacional, broadcast from the municipality of Luperón and hosted by Julio César Díaz and Sugel González.
