The Brazilian journalist Lenildo Frazão experienced a moment of horror on June 30th when, unintentionally, he discovered the lifeless body of Raíssa, a 13-year-old girl. The minor had been reported missing after drowning in the Mearim River, in the town of Bacabal, state of Maranhão, in northeastern Brazil.
According to the Brazilian press, Frazão was reporting on the conditions of the river where Raíssa was last seen while bathing with friends. When the communicator was recording the images for television, he felt something unusual under the water.

"I think there's something down here. It looked like an arm. Could it be her?", the reporter expressed, shocked, to his recording team. The video of the moment went viral on social media and shows Frazão just as he makes contact with the girl's body and immediately backs away and says: "No, I'm not going, I'm scared."Faced with the disturbing discovery, the reporter's team immediately alerted the authorities. The Fire Department resumed the search with the support of divers and, after rescuing the body, confirmed that it was unfortunately Raíssa. Her last name was not revealed out of respect for the family.
Following the rescue, the body was handed over to the Civil Police and sent to the Legal Medical Institute (IML). The preliminary investigation indicated that the girl's death was due to accidental drowning, as no signs of violence were found. The burial of the minor, whose tragic death shocked Bacabal, took place on the same June 30th.
