"My dear grandmother, Jane Etta, we weren't prepared for you to leave, but knowing that you are finally free to sing, dance, and paint again makes it a little easier for us," wrote Sydney Pitt, one of the Oscar-winning actor's nieces, accompanied by a series of photographs with Jane. Sydney is the daughter of Doug Pitt, younger brother of actor Brad Pitt. Doug, Brad, and their sister Julie grew up in Springfield, Missouri, under the care of their parents, Jane and William Pitt, who owned a trucking company. The actor maintained a close relationship with his mother and probably the moment when he received the most media attention was during his marriage to Angelina Jolie, when both she and her father, William, used to accompany the couple at events and red carpets.
