Minister of Sports Kelvin Cruz highlights the importance of the World Police Games

Santo Domingo. - The Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, highlighted this Tuesday the importance for the country of hosting the IV World Police Games, scheduled to take place from October 26 to 30, 2026, with the participation of athletes from 70 nations. He stated that the celebration of these games, organized by the International Union of Police Sports (USIP), will strengthen the positioning of the Dominican Republic in the police sports field and promote inter-institutional cooperation at an international level. Cruz, in a press conference held at the Dominican Sports Museum, highlighted the atmosphere of peace and security that prevails in the country, thanks to the management of President Luis Abinader and the director of the National Police, Ramón Antonio Guzmán Peralta. "For the Dominican Republic, it is a great honor and privilege to host the Fourth World Police Games in 2026, an event of great relevance in the sports, police, and international fields," emphasized Minister Cruz during the event held at the Sports Museum, in which Major General Guzmán Peralta swore in the organizing committee of the event. There will be competition in eight disciplines: baseball, judo, 3x3 basketball, beach volleyball, swimming, athletics, IPSC practical shooting, and golf. In the activity were generals Mohamed Al Dhaheri, president of USIP, and Gonzalo Londoño, secretary general, from the United Arab Emirates and Colombia, respectively.

During the meeting, a video was presented in which the president of the organizing committee of the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, José Monegro, highlighted that the facilities that the Government is remodeling for this event will be the same ones that will serve as the stage for the World Police Games.

The president of the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD), Garibaldy Bautista, highlighted the celebration of the competition. In the press conference were Luis Mejía Oviedo, president of Centro Caribe Sports; Franklin De la Mota, Vice Minister of Sports, and José Luis Bautista, director of the Olympic Hostel, among others.
