FBI releases photos of a suspect linked to the murder of Charlie Kirk

The FBI has released images this Thursday of a suspected individual linked to the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

"We request the collaboration of the citizenry to identify this suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University," the U.S. office wrote on its social media along with photographs.

To this end, it offers a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the individuals responsible for the murder.

The images show a person in dark jeans, a black long-sleeved shirt, a black cap, and black sunglasses climbing stairs.

Hours earlier, authorities held a press conference in which they reported that they have "a video" in which Kirk's attacker appears, who is still at large, and they are working to identify him. At the same time, it was pointed out that the "movements" of the shooter have been traced, who, after shooting Kirk, "left the campus and entered a neighborhood." In addition, they reported that a high-powered bolt-action rifle, the weapon believed to have been used by the shooter, has been recovered. The rifle is an old Mauser model, 30-06 caliber, reported The New York Times, citing federal agents. According to an internal law enforcement bulletin, cited by local media, the ammunition recovered alongside the rifle presented pro-transgender and anti-fascist messages. However, a police official with knowledge of the investigation warned that the report had not been verified by analysts and could have been misinterpreted.
  • Right-wing activist Charlie Kirk was shot during a public event at Utah Valley University. The bullet hit his neck when he was in a question and answer session with students. Kirk was admitted to a hospital, where his death was confirmed shortly after.
  • The attacker fired from the roof of a nearby building, according to the Police, who suggest that it was "a targeted attack".
