COD receives delegation visit from Brazil seeking Panam 2031 headquarters

SANTO DOMINGO. The president of the COD, engineer Garibaldy Bautista, received in his office a commission from Brazil, headed by Marco La Porta, president of the Brazilian Olympic Committee, which is seeking the venue for the staging of the 2031 Pan American Games.

Bautista listened to the commission's presentation, which also included Carlos Osorio, director of the Rio-Literoi 2031 Candidacy; Agberto Guimaraes, general director of athletes; Isabel Swan, president of the Brazilian Athletes Commission, and Matthew Featherstone, member. The head of the COD was accompanied by Irina Pérez, vice president of the COD. During the meeting, the parties exchanged impressions about sports and exchange in different aspects. The organizing committee has scheduled the multi-sport event to be held from August 8 to 24, 2031, while the Para-Pan American Games would be held from September 7 to 16 in the same venues. Marco La Porta pointed out that "we have a good legacy from the 2016 Olympic Games, and some aspects such as transportation and a great prepared staff have been improved. We are looking to reconnect with the games." He indicated that, in this six-year period, until 2031, they intend to execute a work program in each sports discipline. The Brazilian delegation also offered to work, as volunteers, for the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026. Meanwhile, the head of the COD presented several points and let it be known that he will exchange impressions with the executive committee to decide which country to vote for to host the 2031 Pan American Games.
