The Kremlin denounced today that "hundreds of thousands" of Moldovans residing in Russia were unable to vote in the parliamentary elections held this Sunday in Moldova, in which, according to official data, the Action and Solidarity Party, the ruling pro-European formation, won with 50.16%.
"From what we see and know, we can confirm that hundreds of thousands of Moldovans were deprived of the opportunity to vote in Russia because only two polling stations were open for them," said Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov at his daily telephone press briefing.
At the same time, it was pointed out that Moscow will refrain for the moment from assessing the results of the Moldovan elections.
"The assessments will have to be made after we see the position adopted by the political forces (Moldovan) in the face of these elections," Peskov said.
He added that Moscow knows that "some political forces are talking about possible irregularities in the elections."
"That's what we heard and therefore it would be incorrect for us to give free assessments," the spokesperson remarked.
