Monorail employee dies in traffic accident in La Joya de Santiago

Santiago. - A motorcyclist who worked for the Monorail company of Santiago lost his life this Wednesday morning after colliding with a jeep on Hermanas Mirabal Avenue, corner of Anselmo Copelo, near the San José de las Montañas church, in the La Joya sector of Santiago.

The victim was identified as Joan Manuel Vásquez Lorenzo, who died instantly at the moment of impact. Vásquez Lorenzo was an employee of the Santiago Metropolitan Transportation System Consortium (CSTMS), in charge of the construction of the monorail transportation system being developed in the city.

According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred when the young man was riding his motorcycle and was hit by an SUV whose driver has not yet been identified.

Members of the National Emergency and Security Attention System 9-1-1 went to the scene, but the man no longer showed vital signs. The event caused great commotion among the residents of the area and colleagues of the deceased, who deeply regretted what happened.
