Alcoy (Alicante). - The filming of some scenes with sexual content in the tomb of Camilo Sesto, in the cemetery of Alcoy (Alicante), has sparked a political controversy between the municipal opposition, which accuses the city council of allowing it, and the latter, which denies it.

The popular group in the Alcoy City Council has described as “lamentable and reprehensible” that a filming of this type was authorized and in that location, and has considered that it constitutes “a serious lack of sensitivity” towards the memory of the artist, his family and the citizenry.

No Filming Permit

For its part, the local government, formed by PSPV-PSOE and Compromís, has denied having authorized the filming and assures that the Alcoy Film Office, the public entity that promotes the audiovisual sector in the municipality, did not grant permission for a production of a pornographic nature. According to what EFE has been able to verify in the document, the application submitted by the production company included a synopsis in which the visit of a character "to the tomb of his partner in a moment of deep and desolate introspection" was described. From the municipal government they consider it "irresponsible to misrepresent the facts and generate confusion among the citizenry" and they emphasize that "there is no reference in the filming request or in the synopsis to the tomb of Camilo Sesto, nor to any specific element of the city's funerary heritage". The scenes were filmed in December 2024, when the mausoleum of Camilo Sesto (1946-2019) was not yet finished and before the transfer of his ashes. The Councilor for Tourism, Lorena Zamorano, has announced that the future ordinance will expressly incorporate the prohibition of filming adult productions in the municipal public domain or those that may violate the dignity of people, human rights or animal welfare.
