Santiago. – The Santiago Aqueduct and Sewerage Corporation (CORAASAN) reported that the drinking water service was restored after successfully completing the correction work on the collapse that occurred in a section of the 60-inch adduction line of the Cibao Central Aqueduct, in the community of La Zanja, Sabana Iglesia municipality.
The general director of the entity, engineer Andrés Cueto, explained that after completing the 16 hours required for the drying of the concrete placed in the pipe, the corresponding technical tests were carried out and the pumping system was put into operation on the night of this Tuesday.
Cueto detailed that the Bao counter-dam and the López intake are already capturing raw water, which is channeled towards the Cibao Central and La Dura de Moca aqueducts, from where the liquid is processed and distributed to the population. He specified that the intake line operates at full capacity, with a flow rate of five cubic meters per second, equivalent to about 115 million gallons per day.
The official indicated that the supply will be normalized gradually in the sectors affected by the breakdown, and assured that in the coming hours the municipalities of Puñal, Licey al Medio and Tamboril, as well as a large part of Santiago de los Caballeros and La Dura de Moca, will receive the service normally.
