Santiago de los Caballeros. – The City Council of Santiago de los Caballeros delivered this Friday an initial economic contribution of RD$2,337,500.00 to the pig groups that will participate in the Santiago Carnival 2026, reaffirming its commitment to the strengthening of popular culture and the preservation of the traditions that identify the city.
The delivery of resources, carried out for the second consecutive year, amounts to a total of RD$6,800,000.00, which directly benefits the groups officially confirmed for the next edition of the carnival. Among the beneficiaries are the institutions UCASA, UCACOSAN, FUCSA, FELECSA, the Independent Bloc and the Independent groups, who play a leading role in one of the most emblematic cultural manifestations of Santiago de los Caballeros.
During the event, Mayor Ulises Rodríguez highlighted that this institutional support is part of a municipal policy aimed at preserving and promoting traditional cultural expressions, recognizing the historical, social, and artistic value of the Santiago Carnival.

"For the second year in a row, we are providing direct financial support to the lechones groups, because we firmly believe that investing in culture is investing in identity, development, and civic pride. The Santiago Carnival is a living tradition that we will continue to support with actions and not just with words," said Mayor Rodríguez.
On their part, the representatives of the piglet groups thanked the economic support provided by the Mayor's Office of Santiago, highlighting the positive impact that this support has on the organization, logistics, and artistic quality of the carnival.
The 2026 edition of the Santiago Carnival will be held from February 8th to March 1st, with the Parque Central de Santiago as the main stage, consolidated as the epicenter of this cultural festival that attracts thousands of local and national visitors.
