ADIE chooses José Rodríguez Silvestre as its new president

The Dominican Association of the Electrical Industry (ADIE) announced the appointment of engineer José A. Rodríguez Silvestre as its new president, beginning a management aimed at continuing to provide technical and sustainable solutions for the strengthening of the Dominican electrical system, in close collaboration with state authorities.

ADIE highlighted that this new stage will maintain a strategic focus on planning, energy transition, supply security, and institutional strengthening of the generation sector, as pillars for a more efficient, competitive, and reliable electricity system for the country.

José A. Rodríguez Silvestre is General Manager of the Empresa Generadora de Electricidad Haina (EGE Haina), the main public-private company in the Dominican Republic and one of the largest electricity generation companies in the country. He has more than 20 years of experience in the energy sector, leading infrastructure investments that exceed 1,000 megawatts in renewable and conventional generation.

Since joining EGE Haina in 2006 as Director of Development, and later as General Manager since 2023, engineer Rodríguez has been a key player in the growth and diversification of the national energy matrix, driving projects that have established the company as a benchmark in the region's energy transition.

He is an Electrical Engineer from the University of Miami and holds an MBA from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), a background that he complements with a leadership vision focused on sustainability, innovation, and the development of human talent.

ADIE also reported that the rest of the board will be made up of Roberto Herrera, from the Compañía de Electricidad San Pedro de Macorís (CESPM), who moves from the presidency to the vice presidency; Edwin De Los Santos, from AES Andrés DR, S.A., as secretary; Antonio Ramírez, from Generadora San Felipe Limited Partnership, as treasurer; and Armando Rodríguez, from Transcontinental Capital Corporation Bermuda Ltd (Seaboard); Ernesto Armenteros, from Grupo Energético 23, S.A.; and Edgar Fuente, from Complejo Metalúrgico Dominicano, S.A., as directors.

Finally, ADIE took advantage of the announcement to thank the outgoing president, Roberto Herrera, highlighting his leadership and contributions to the institutional strengthening of the association, as well as his contribution to positioning the generation sector as a key player in the development of the Dominican electric system.
