The catcher was the key figure in the match by hitting a two-run home run that broke the tie, in addition to adding the first triple of his career, in a decisive offensive to seal the victory in extra innings. Arizona thus completed a successful nine-game road trip with a 6-3 record, prevailing in series against the Mets, Phillies, and Orioles. In that stretch, Corbin Carroll also stood out, hitting two doubles and scoring twice. In the tenth inning, the Diamondbacks manufactured a three-run rally that defined the game. Venezuelan Ildemaro Vargas led off with a bunt that turned into a hit, extending his streak of consecutive games hitting to 12, a franchise record to start a season. Later, he scored after a single by Nolan Arenado to extend the lead. The previous tie came in the sixth inning, when Alek Thomas drove in a run with a ground ball, tying the score at 4-4 in a duel that remained close for much of the afternoon. From the mound, Ryan Thompson was credited with the victory after pitching a perfect ninth inning that forced extra innings, while Venezuelan Juan Morillo retired the three batters he faced in the tenth to secure his second save in the Major Leagues. Despite an uneven outing from starting pitcher Eduardo Rodríguez, who allowed four runs in five innings, the Diamondbacks managed to prevail thanks to their timely hitting and solid bullpen work. With this result, Arizona continues to show consistency in closed scenarios, improving its record in decisive games and consolidating a productive away tour.
