The incident occurred on July 5th, around noon, in a store located on Mirador del Yaque Avenue. According to the owner's complaint, Juanita, who worked as a janitor at the place, had returned during her lunch break with a bag in her hands, sprayed gasoline on the access door and then set it on fire before fleeing with a balaclava on. The suspicions were confirmed by recordings from both the internal security system and a neighbor's camera, which captured the defendant in the act. The quick intervention of a public transport driver, who noticed the smoke and alerted two employees inside the premises, allowed contact with the 9-1-1 System, thus avoiding a major tragedy. "Juanita" will be placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry, accused of violating article 434 of the Dominican Penal Code, which punishes arson committed intentionally.
