Santiago. – The director of the National Police assured that the city of Santiago is going through one of its most favorable moments in terms of citizen security, with a historically low crime rate, close to five points.

During his intervention, he also highlighted the positive impact of the institutional transformation of the Police, which has allowed for a better identification of criminal hotspots through the use of technology, such as heat maps, to more effectively plan police presence. Regarding the demand for a new police station in Santiago, he explained that the project does not depend exclusively on the institution, but he advanced that plans have already been drawn up and locations are being evaluated, with the hope of starting the works this year. The director reaffirmed the institution's commitment to the safety and well-being of the people of Santiago, and urged the community to maintain an active collaboration with the authorities. He assured that only with the joint work between citizens and Police will it be possible to guarantee a safe and sustainable environment in the province.
