Santo Domingo.- The Senate of the Dominican Republic and the Parliament of Jamaica signed this Wednesday an institutional collaboration agreement with the purpose of strengthening ties between both nations, fostering cultural exchange and promoting legislative cooperation.
The signing of the agreement was headed by the president of the Dominican Senate , Ricardo de los Santos, and his Jamaican counterpart, Senator Thomas Tavares-Finson. The document establishes the creation of two bilateral entities: the Dominican Republic-Jamaica Parliamentary Friendship Association and the Jamaica-Dominican Republic Parliamentary Friendship Association.

These associations will aim to promote direct contact between the parliaments of both countries through the exchange of delegations, joint cultural activities, the strengthening of political dialogue, and cooperation on economic, legislative, and common interest issues.
Furthermore, the agreement includes the mutual commitment to share legislative experiences and participation strategies in multilateral forums and international parliamentary assemblies, with a view to strengthening the presence of both countries in the regional and international arena.During the official ceremony held at the Parliament of Jamaica, President Tavares-Finson was accompanied by officials Christopher Kohan, Deputy Secretary of Parliament, and Tashana Sewell, Director of Communications. Also present was the Dominican Ambassador to Jamaica, Angie Martínez.
The Dominican delegation included the participation of senators Omar Fernández, Félix Bautista, Aracelis Villanueva, Julito Fulcar, Santiago Zorrilla, Lía Díaz, María Mercedes Ortiz, and Carlos Gómez. Also in attendance were the deputies Alfredo Pacheco, president of the Chamber of Deputies, along with Brenda Ogando, Ignacio Aracena, and Juan José Rojas.
