Santo Domingo.- Showers and thunderstorms will occur this afternoon in several provinces in the interior of the country, due to a trough and local effects, according to reports from the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET).
During the morning hours, the weather forecast will remain relatively stable, with mostly clear skies and few clouds across much of the national territory.
"Today we will have rainfall inland, this is due to a trough and the east wind", assured the forecaster Samira Lorenzo.

However, despite this environment of apparent stability, some passing showers are expected, especially in areas of La Altagracia, Samaná, Monte Plata and María Trinidad Sánchez, due to the influence of the prevailing east wind. In the afternoon, the combination of the upper-level trough with daytime heating and orographic effects will generate local showers and thunderstorms over populations of Monte Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Santiago, Dajabón, Valverde, Santiago Rodríguez, San Juan and Elías Piña, among other nearby provinces. For the night, a decrease in rainfall is expected in these areas, although some cloud cover and scattered showers will remain in regions of the east and northeast of the country.
