Santo Domingo. - The Emergency and Operations Center (COE) increased to twelve this Thursday the number of provinces on red alert due to the effects of storm Melissa in the country.
In that sense, the director of the COE, Juan Manuel Méndez, communicated that La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís and Monte Plata join Barahona, San Cristóbal, Santo Domingo, including the National District, San Juan, San José de Ocoa, Azua, Pedernales, Peravia in the maximum alert level.

The following areas are under yellow alert: La Vega, Hato Mayor, El Seibo, Samaná, Monseñor Nouel, Sánchez Ramírez, La Altagracia, Elías Piña, Independencia, and Bahoruco.
Likewise, María Trinidad Sánchez, Santiago and Duarte are under green alert.
Authorities warned that this atmospheric phenomenon will continue to generate rainfall in the national territory.
