The Consul General, José Marte Piantini, emphasized that the work of these agents has been "vital to expedite processes and guarantee timely support to Dominicans facing difficulties during their transit through Spain." Among the most frequent cases are those who, for various reasons, are prevented from continuing their journey to the Dominican Republic or who arrive deported from third countries, including conflict zones. In this regard, it is highlighted that on more than one occasion, Dominican citizens have been trapped in stopovers following the suspension of flights due to war outbreaks in the Middle East. Thanks to the intermediation and support of border police, the consulate has been able to manage solutions that prevent these citizens from being returned to places where their safety could be compromised, facilitating their safe return to the country with the support of their families, the consular mission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic. "For us, as a consulate, it is essential to offer immediate assistance to those who need it most. The collaboration of the Police has been key to obtaining information on time and coordinating the necessary assistance, which directly benefits our community," said Marte Piantini. This recognition not only values the work of the agents, but also reflects the close cooperation between Spanish institutions and the Dominican Republic, a link that strengthens the joint response capacity for the benefit of the citizenry.
Marte Piantini reaffirmed the General Consulate's commitment to continue working hand in hand with the Spanish authorities to protect the rights and well-being of Dominicans residing and in transit through Madrid.
