The Government and the people of Venezuela are willing to defend their country against military interventionism by the United States, as stated by Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez this Saturday, a few hours after US military personnel attacked the country and kidnapped President Nicolás Maduro and his wife.
"We learned it from Commander [Hugo] Chávez in the face of adversity, in the face of coups d'état, in the face of oil sabotages. We are ready to defend Venezuela. We are ready to defend our natural resources that must be for national development," Rodríguez assured, speaking at the National Defense Council.

The vice president maintained that the Venezuelan people are "assisted by historical reason and moral reason" to remain "firm in defense of peace, tranquility, the right to the future of Venezuela, the right to the homeland that the Venezuelan people have and the right to a future and social happiness." He also called on other countries in the region to remain united in the face of the threat from the North American country. "We call on the countries, the peoples of the Great Homeland to remain united. Because what they did to Venezuela today they can do to anyone," he emphasized.
