U.S. President Donald Trump declared this Friday that the Russian-Ukrainian conflict will end or the parties will have to pay "a high price". "We are also going to resolve [the Ukrainian conflict], but it turned out to be a little more difficult than I thought. And it will be resolved or a high price will have to be paid", he affirmed to journalists at the White House. "I want this to stop", he added.
The statements were made during the signing of an executive order that grants the U.S. Department of Defense the title of "Department of War", which, according to the president, is "much more appropriate, especially in light of the current situation in the world". Trump also indicated that this step "sends a message of strength and victory much stronger than anyone could really understand". Previously, the US leader assured that Washington will continue to participate in the solution of the Ukrainian crisis. "If I can help stop it, then I think I have an obligation to do so", he said. Likewise, he pointed out that he has discovered something very interesting about the conflict. "I have found out things that will be very interesting. I think that in the coming days they will find out. [...] Let's see what happens," he indicated, adding that he is "very attentive" to the matter.
  • From Moscow, it has been repeatedly emphasized that they have never refused dialogue with Kyiv. In a press conference after his visit to China, Vladimir Putin reiterated that position, and invited the leader of the Ukrainian regime, Vladimir Zelensky, to travel to Moscow to hold the meeting. At the same time, he added that meeting with Zelensky in his current situation is a "path to nowhere" due to the expiration of his legitimacy in the presidential office
  • In turn, Kyiv has rejected the offer. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Andriy Sibiga, accused Putin of "continuing to play with everyone, by making deliberately unacceptable proposals"
