SANTIAGO. – A great goal by Javier Roces defined the match and Cibao FC took away the undefeated status from Salcedo FC by winning 1-0, to remain alone at the top of the Dominican Football League (LDF 2025-2026), in matchday 8 played on Saturday night at the stadium of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra. The tournament is dedicated to José Rafael Abinader.

With the triumph, Cibao FC reached 18 points (added 3 to the 15 it had) and remained as the sole leader. Salcedo FC remained with 15.
The decisive goal came in the 61st minute: Roces unleashed a thunderbolt that entered like a missile into the visiting goal, leaving goalkeeper Cristian Severino with no answer and unleashing the euphoria of the orange fans who packed the stadium.
Salcedo FC "sold the defeat dearly" and remained insistent on the rival goal, but Miguel Lloyd once again stood as a wall, stopping every attempt that reached his territory.
In the first half, Cibao FC suffered the injury of Walter Acuña at minute 39, with Wilman Modesta entering in his place. Near halftime, Jean Carlos López was close to opening the scoring with a powerful shot that hit Severino's left post. The 0-0 score remained until halftime.
The complement started unchanged and with maximum parity, until Roces broke the lock with his definition. Already in the final stretch, at minute 89, the locals made a triple move: Ángel Pérez, Gonzalo Alarcón and Julián Gómez entered for Rivaldo Correa, Omar de la Cruz and Carlos “Caballo” Ventura.
