The Puerto Ricans began to attack the Cuban pitchers in the very second inning when Julián Estrada scored as a result of two invalid moves by the Cuban pitcher Pedro Castillo, then Guillermo Negrón advanced to the plate with a sacrifice fly by Adriel Cartagena to right field and Alex Ríos scored after hitting to right field, being driven in by Rodrigo Ramos who achieved a hit through the same route.

In the third inning, the Puerto Rican attack followed with a home run by Alan Colón inside the park to put the game four runs to zero.
At no point was the Cuban offense a factor in the game, and despite scoring a run in the third inning and another in the fifth, they never threatened Puerto Rico's lead, which in the sixth inning put the lid on the pot by scoring two more runs.
Puerto Rico received five walks and only struck out on two occasions.
The control of the Puerto Rican pitchers was paramount in achieving victory by conceding only two free passes and striking out four.
The winning pitcher was Kedrian Castro from Puerto Rico and the loser Pedro Castillo from Cuba.
