Indomet: Sunny skies and moderate showers this Sunday

Santo Domingo.- Today, Sunday, during the morning hours, we will observe a mostly sunny sky, reports the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET).

However, in the afternoon and evening, we will notice cloudy increases generating moderate to heavy showers at times with electrical storms and wind gusts due to the rapid displacement of tropical wave #8 over the waters of the Caribbean Sea, as well as the local effects, the humidity transported by the wind and the indirect incidence of a weak trough, mainly over the provinces; Monte Plata, Santo Domingo, La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís, San Cristóbal, Sánchez Ramírez, Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, Azua, San Juan, Independencia, Bahoruco, Elías Piña, among other nearby locations.

On Monday morning, rainfall activity will be limited. Consequently, we only foresee occasional isolated showers of short duration.

However, during the afternoon and early evening hours, the humidity left by tropical wave number 8, plus the indirect effects of a weak trough, will favor the occurrence of moderate to heavy showers locally, thunderstorms and wind gusts over different towns of: La Altagracia, La Romana, San Pedro de Macorís, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, Santiago, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, Azua, Peravia, San Juan, Independencia, Bahoruco, Barahona, Elías Piña, San Cristóbal, Santo Domingo, among other nearby locations.

Temperatures

Temperatures will remain hot, mainly in the afternoon due to the time of year, the warm east/southeast wind and the presence of a light layer of Saharan dust. Consequently, it is necessary to drink enough water, seek cool places, avoid the sun's rays without proper protection between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. In addition, wear light and cool clothing preferably and, above all, keep in mind that children and the elderly are more susceptible to high temperatures.

Temperatures: the minimum will be between 21 °C and 23 °C, and the maximum between 32 °C and 34 °C.

National District: increasing cloudiness, mainly after midday, with scattered showers, thunderstorms and wind gusts. Santo Domingo Norte: partly cloudy to cloudy with local showers, thunderstorms and wind gusts during the afternoon, mainly. Santo Domingo Este: partly cloudy to cloudy with scattered showers, thunderstorms and wind gusts during the afternoon, mainly. Santo Domingo Oeste: increase in cloudiness with local showers, thunderstorms and wind gusts.
