ADP Monción denounces work stoppage and demands immediate response from MINERD

Santiago Rodríguez. - The Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP), Monción Section, denounced the paralysis of infrastructure work at the Las Mesetas school and urgently called the attention of the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (MINERD), due to the progressive deterioration of the school and the conditions in which the educational process takes place. According to Miguelina Estévez, President of the Section, the work is stopped due to lack of payment to the contracting engineer responsible for the work, a situation that has caused the stagnation of the intervention and the worsening of the physical conditions of the educational center. “In this school, the Initial, Primary, and Secondary levels operate, so the paralysis of the work directly affects a large student population, as well as teaching and administrative staff, who are forced to teach in spaces that do not meet the minimum conditions of safety, comfort, and pedagogical adequacy”, said the teaching leader. The section indicated that, despite repeated efforts, claims and calls made to the corresponding instances, a concrete response that allows the resumption of work and guarantees a decent school environment has not been received to date.

Likewise, it reiterated its willingness to dialogue, while it will continue to use all legitimate mechanisms at its disposal to defend the rights of teachers and students.
