Fidel Osorio dazzles in Santo Domingo with an unforgettable night of “Big Band Christmas”

Santo Domingo. - With a completely packed Bellas Artes Theater, the long-awaited “Big Band Christmas” concert began promptly at 8:30 p.m., marking a memorable day for Christmas music in the Dominican Republic. The event was opened by maestro Amaury Sánchez, who, along with his impeccable Big Band, raised the energy with an introduction full of elegance, precision, and festive spirit.

Maestro Sánchez, renowned for his high-level orchestral direction, set the stage with a majestic performance that served as the perfect prelude to welcome the protagonist of the night, Puerto Rican crooner Fidel Osorio. Amidst applause and ovations, Osorio entered the stage exuding class, stage presence, and a voice that embraced the audience from the first measure. During the first part of the Christmas concert, the great classics of the season were presented, including “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas”, “Silver Bells”, “Jingle Bells” and “Santa Claus Llegó a la Ciudad”. The Big Band displayed an impeccable sound that enveloped the audience in the Christmas tradition with a mix of nostalgia, sophistication and musical brilliance.

In the second part of the concert, Osorio offered a selection of original arrangements in big band format, performing songs included in his musical production 40, such as "Bésame Mucho", "Adoro" and "A Mi Manera", especially standing out for the elegance, strength and modernity of his arrangements, which received prolonged ovations from the attendees. For an uninterrupted hour and a half, Osorio performed a musical journey that combined swing, classic jazz, and Christmas repertoire with a vocal performance of the highest quality. In several interventions, he expressed his gratitude, acknowledging his family, his special guests, and the Dominican public for their support. In addition, Osorio especially thanked his sponsors, including the newspaper El Nuevo Diario, for the support provided in this concert. One of the most celebrated moments of the night was the special participation of the Dominican artist Amanda Sánchez, who joined Osorio on stage to perform several songs as a duet. The vocal chemistry between the two, combined with the sonic force of the Big Band, delivered some of the most moving numbers of the concert, highlighting Dominican artistic elegance alongside the international brilliance of the Puerto Rican guest.
