In the Presidential Palace Square of New Delhi the official welcoming ceremony for Russian President Vladimir Putin began, as part of his state visit. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu are participating in the event.
The Russian leader arrived at the palace in his Aurus presidential limousine. He was greeted with a red carpet, a guard of honor, and the Russian anthem.
"Today, Russia and India together defend in the international arena the principles of equality, cooperation and mutual respect between peoples," Putin declared.

The leader arrived on Thursday in the Asian country. Upon arrival, the Russian president was received with a red carpet and a warm embrace from Narendra Modi, who went to the airport to receive him personally. After a firm handshake, both leaders got into the same car and left.On the eve of the visit, Putin gave an interview to India Today, in which he discussed Indian politics and bilateral relations. The president stated that he and the Indian Prime Minister maintain a relationship that is not only commercial, but also personal, and they have a lot to talk about. "I am very pleased to meet with my friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi," he noted.
The Russian leader emphasized that the collaboration between both nations is developing in various areas. "I will not even mention the history of our relations, because it is unique," he remarked. In the same vein, he stated that more than 90% of the transactions between both countries are carried out in the national currency. Moscow and New Delhi plan to expand cooperation in new areas, Putin continued. "We have a comprehensive cooperation plan that covers the most important areas: high technology, space exploration, and nuclear energy," he detailed.
