Jerusalem.- At least 70 Gazans died on Wednesday due to Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip, reported this Thursday in its daily report the Ministry of Health of the enclave, which specified that 18 of the victims lost their lives while seeking humanitarian aid.
In addition, 356 people arrived wounded on Wednesday at hospitals in the Gaza Strip, 117 of them hit by gunfire while trying to receive food at the distribution points of the controversial Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF is its acronym in English) or at the crossings where the few trucks from the UN and other organizations that reach the enclave pass.
In total, at least 62,192 Gazans have died and 157,114 have been injured since the beginning of the Israeli offensive, following the Hamas attacks of October 7, 2023, an offensive that continues to escalate with new moves such as the imminent invasion of Gaza City.
At least 2,036 of the total deaths and more than 15,064 of the injured were attacked while searching for food in the depleted enclave, according to calculations by the Gaza Ministry of Health, which is controlled by the Hamas government.
The Ministry, which recalls that "several victims" still remain under the rubble and in the streets, also counted on Wednesday two deaths from starvation and malnutrition, bringing the total number of deaths from famine to 271, including 112 children, since the beginning of the war.
The limited entry of food, due to the Israeli blockade, further aggravates the situation of a population of 2.1 million people on the brink of famine, as repeatedly denounced by humanitarian organizations that already qualify the current war campaign as "genocide".
