Two men and a woman are arrested and 36 packages presumably containing cocaine are seized.

Santo Domingo.- Agents of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and members of the Public Ministry, supported by the Interagency Task Force of Los Pilones, arrested three people and seized 36 packages presumably cocaine, during inspection work, carried out in the municipality of Baní, Peravia province. The DNCD teams mounted an operation on the Francisco del Rosario Sánchez highway, specifically at the Los Pilones checkpoint, where they intercepted two vehicles with several people on board, who, according to intelligence reports, intended to carry out a transaction of alleged narcotic substances.

By order of the prosecutor, the Kia car, model K5, was seized, inside of which were found hidden, in the back of the seats, a total of 35 packages presumably cocaine, wrapped in adhesive tapes of different colors and with various logos. Continuing with the action protocol, the second vehicle, a Hyundai jeep, Tucson model, was inspected, where another package (cylindrical in shape) wrapped in transparent tape was confiscated inside the rear door, for a total of 36 packages. "During the intervention, two vehicles, five cell phones, personal documents and other evidence were seized," the press release states. The Public Ministry and the DNCD are conducting the relevant investigations to determine if there are other individuals involved in the thwarted drug trafficking operation, while the detainees, two men and one woman, will be brought to justice in the coming hours for violation of law 50-88, on drugs and controlled substances. The packages of the substance were sent under chain of custody to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) for the corresponding purposes.
