Buenos Aires.- The American appliance manufacturer Whirlpool decided to close its plant in Argentina and lay off 220 workers, sources from the company confirmed to EFE this Wednesday.
The company notified its employees of the closure of its plant in the Buenos Aires town of Pilar, an establishment that it had inaugurated in 2022 after investing 50 million dollars.
The multinational produced washing machines there, partly for export.
The company, which with this decision ceases to produce in Argentina, will continue to market its imported products in the South American country from other markets.
