According to local residents, the point of sale for illicit substances has been operating for years and has been a recurring scene of shootings, which has generated strong questions about the apparent support or indifference of local authorities in the face of this problem.

Access to the area was hindered during the night due to the heavy rains and the overflowing of the nearby river, which delayed the police intervention. It was on Sunday morning when units of the National Police, including members of the Department of Criminal Investigations (DICRIM), were able to reach the scene and began the removal of the bodies and corresponding investigations.

The authorities have not yet offered details on the reasons for the confrontation, nor have any arrests been made related to the case. Investigations are ongoing to clarify the facts and determine responsibilities.

This new episode of violence once again highlights the challenges faced by border communities in terms of security and drug trafficking control.
