Kiev.- After several relatively quiet nights, the inhabitants of Kiev woke up again this Tuesday to the roar of the activity of air defenses, missile impacts, and machine guns trying to shoot down Shahed kamikaze drones, due to a new massive Russian attack against several regions of Ukraine, which killed 15 people in the capital and claimed another life in the port of Odessa.
The attack occurred while a G7 summit is taking place in the Canadian province of Alberta, in which the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, who will participate as a guest, was scheduled to meet with his US counterpart, Donald Trump, to try to personally convince him to impose sanctions against Russia to force the Kremlin to stop the war.

"These attacks are pure terrorism. And the whole world, the United States, and Europe, must finally respond as a civilized society responds to terrorists," wrote Zelensky on his social media, who has seen his plans to meet with Trump frustrated after the American president withdrew prematurely from the summit to deal with the war between Iran and Israel in the Middle East. The Ukrainian president explained that his administration is in contact with all its partners "at all possible levels" so that there is an "adequate" response to a new Russian attack which, according to the Foreign Minister of Kiev, Andrí Sibiga, has no other intention than "to make the G7 leaders look weak". Zelensky also planned to discuss with Trump the possibility of Ukraine buying from the U.S. air defenses and other types of weaponry that Kyiv needs to protect its territory from attacks like last night's. The Trump administration has not approved any new arms package for Ukraine since coming to power, which still has not received a response to its offer to pay for the weapons that under the presidency of Democrat Joe Biden it received free of charge from the U.S.Nearly 500 drones and missiles
Russia used 440 drones and 32 missiles in its attack last night against the Ukrainian territory, including two Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, one Kh-31 anti-radar missile, and numerous cruise missiles.Of the total missiles, 26 were intercepted by the Ukrainian Air Force, which also neutralized 239 drones. According to the report from this component of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, there were direct impacts in 10 locations. The remains of the downed missiles and drones fell on another 34 locations.
One of the impacts completely collapsed several floors in an apartment block located near an industrial area in the west of the Ukrainian capital. According to EFE, rescue teams continued debris removal at midday. The shockwave and shrapnel from this and other impacts that occurred in the surrounding area damaged the facades of numerous businesses and apartments in the vicinity. A large column of smoke continued to rise hours after the attack from within the industrial perimeter. More than a hundred people have been injured in the eight districts of Kyiv affected by the bombing. Another goal of the Russian attack - which also reached areas of the Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad and Mykolaiv regions - was the Black Sea port of Odesa, in southern Ukraine. "Unfortunately, the lifeless body of a 60-year-old woman was found under the rubble," wrote the governor of the Odesa region, Oleg Kiper, on his Telegram account, who reported 17 injured in the area under his jurisdiction.
