MOPC removes employee arrested for transporting illegal immigrants

Santo Domingo. – The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) reported that it dismissed Joely Rafael Ventura Mejía, following his arrest by military authorities in Mao, for transporting foreign persons in an irregular migratory situation. Ventura Mejía served as the head of division in the provincial department in Dajabón, since 2020. “La institución desaprueba categóricamente cualquier acción que contravenga las leyes nacionales, los principios de integridad pública y el uso correcto de los bienes del Estado”,

expresa la nota.
Finally, Public Works reaffirms its commitment to respecting immigration laws, ethics in public service, and full cooperation with the bodies responsible for determining responsibilities. “Every public servant, regardless of their position, must respond with integrity to the duty entrusted to them”, the statement concludes.
