About twenty Spanish artists, including actor Luis Tosar, film director Fernando León de Aranoa, and actor and producer Carlos Bardem, along with journalists and politicians, published this Wednesday a video supporting the solidarity flotilla with Palestine Global Sumud, which will depart from Barcelona on August 31.

"This is the biggest historical call of our generation," says Carlos Bardem in a video he posted on his social media this Wednesday, the organization of this international civil society initiative against Israel's war in Gaza, which will have more than 50 ships and representation from at least 44 countries, they reported.

The video also features other artists such as the Argentinian-Spanish actor and director Juan Diego Botto, actress Carolina Yuste, and actors Álvaro Cervantes and Manolo Solo, among others.

"Never in history have so many journalists, UN workers, and healthcare personnel been killed," they point out, after emphasizing that "Israel's genocide in Gaza has intensified in the last 22 months" and that that country has dropped "the equivalent of eight Hiroshima atomic bombs on women, men, boys, and girls" in the Strip.

The flotilla will include sailors, health workers, jurists, and activists from around the world, including American actress Susan Sarandon, Swedish activist Greta Thumberg, and Brazilian actor Tiago Ávila.

More than 62,800 people have died and another 158,000 have been injured in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 2023, according to the count of the Gaza Ministry of Health.

The Israeli campaign has been denounced as genocide by countries like South Africa before the International Court of Justice (ICJ), as well as by international and Israeli human rights organizations, while the IPC (Integrated Food Security Phase Classification), endorsed by the UN, has declared famine in the northern Gaza Strip.
