Florentino Pérez attacks Tebas and points to Barça and the refereeing in the Real Madrid Assembly

Madrid. – Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez launched harsh criticism this Sunday during the Ordinary Assembly of the club, held in the basketball pavilion of Ciudad Real Madrid in Valdebebas. The white leader accused LaLiga president Javier Tebas of "adulterating the competition" and insisted that the current management of Spanish football is not "normal".

Pérez questioned the attempt to organize an official match in Miami — a project promoted by LaLiga and rejected by FIFA —, pointing out that the initiative not only violates the spirit of the competition, but also grants economic advantages to certain clubs.

“It is not normal for the president of the League to promote a match outside of Spain. It is not normal for football to be governed by those who only seek to protect their privileges,” he stated before the representative partners.

The white leader also criticized that the League supported the possibility of Barcelona and Villarreal accessing extraordinary income for the celebration of the international match, something that, in his opinion, breaks sports equity.

Criticism of Barcelona for the Negreira Case

Florentino Pérez did not overlook the refereeing scandal involving FC Barcelona, recalling the payments for 17 years to the former vice president of the Technical Committee of Referees, José María Enríquez Negreira.

“It is not normal for two clubs to receive special economic treatment. Nor is it normal that for so many years payments have been made to those who should ensure refereeing integrity,” he emphasized.

Questions about Spanish refereeing

The president also expressed his concern about the level of arbitration in Spain, calling it "insufficient" and pointing out the need for a profound reform.

“The level of Spanish refereeing is not normal. The errors and lack of transparency harm football and generate distrust among fans,” he expressed.

Institutional Tension Context

Pérez's statements come in a climate of strong confrontation between Real Madrid and LaLiga, with open disputes over economic management, the distribution of audiovisual rights, the implementation of new competitions and the development of the Super League project. The intervention of the Real Madrid president was one of the most forceful in recent years and marks a new chapter in the institutional confrontation between the white club and Javier Tebas.
