Dominican Republic will host the Racquetball World Championship

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic will host the thirty-sixth Racquetball World Championship, which will be held from December 5 to 13 at the racquetball court in the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center. The championship will be held in the 10-12-14 and 16-year-old divisions, who will compete in the Spirit Cup, while athletes aged 16-18 and 21 will take part in the World Cup. In total, the participation of more than 350 athletes is expected. The country, which hosted a similar event in 2015 in the same venue, will be represented by 14 players. "From day one, the championship was given the yes," said the Vice Minister of Sports, Franklin de la Mota, who led the meeting with the press held in the James Rodríguez Hall The inauguration will be on the fifth and the matches will start from the following day, informed the president of the Dominican Federation of Racquetball, Rafael Fernández, and announced that there will be matches from morning until night.

The competition track has eight courts.

Among the participating countries, Fernández reported, are South Korea, China Tape, who are coming to the country for the first time; Canada, United States, Mexico, Guatemala, Ecuador, Argentina, Colombia, Bolivia, Costa Rica, among others "We want the country to continue shining in events like this, with the presence of those 18 countries it is a way of doing sports tourism," added De la Mota, in addition to the fact that visitors can say that we have "first-class racquetball and courts." The Secretary General of the Federation, Ramón Acosta Graveley, recalled that the country had not organized an event of this level since 2015. "We have a lot of faith that our athletes can perform in this championship," said Acosta. The Federation's technical director, Ricardo Mootuig, highlighted the importance of hosting this event. "It helps us a lot," he said. "Years ago we had this event and those athletes, today, are the Central American and Pan American medalists of the Dominican Republic," he pointed out.
