Cotuí. – More than 1,300 students from different educational centers benefited from an Integral Health Day held by the National Institute of Student Welfare (Inabie) at the Francisco Henríquez y Carvajal High School, as part of the Welfare Route promoted by the institution throughout the country. In the day, held from November 24 to 28, 2025, visual, auditory, oral health, epidemiology, and nutrition services were offered. It also included anthropometric evaluations of height and weight to monitor the nutritional status of the students, which strengthens the preventive accompaniment that the institution provides to the educational community. The activity was led by the executive director of Inabie, Adolfo Pérez, who positively valued the community's reception and the direct impact of these interventions.

"Each day represents a firm step towards a more inclusive and humane education system. We ensure that students receive health services that many families cannot afford, because their well-being is essential for learning and staying in the classrooms," he affirmed.

During the day, students between 5 and 19 years old were attended, from the Francisco Henríquez y Carvajal High School, the Salomé Ureña Educational Center, the Cevicos School and the Mélida García Educational Center. By area, the following services were offered: visual health (434 students), hearing health (293), oral health (579) and epidemiology (677). Mrs. Marlene Alexandra Capellán, mother of one of the beneficiary students, highlighted the emotional and economic impact of these actions. “This day is very important because my son received dental care and they fixed a broken tooth. Many parents do not have the resources to take our children to the dentist. That's why this is a huge relief,” he expressed. In the activity, the director of Regional Education 16, Virginia Suriel; the mayor of Cotuí, José Eugenio Montilla, and the director of the educational center, Martín Bautista, were also present. Also, the executive director was accompanied by the deputy general director of Inabie, Luis Valdez; Santos Gervasio, in charge of Provincial Representation Offices; the director of Health and Nutrition, Luis Lizardo, and the provincial head of Inabie in Cotuí, Juan Carlos Infante Mirambeaux. The Inabie reported that these sessions will continue to be held in different communities of the country, with the aim of guaranteeing timely care that contributes to student well-being, their permanence in the classrooms and a healthier learning process.
