Athletics shines with four medals and DR remains seventh in the Bolivarian Games

LIMA, Peru.– Athletics regained the spotlight for the Dominican delegation by winning one gold medal, one silver medal, and two bronze medals, while boxing contributed two silver medals and karate added a bronze in kata during the day on Thursday at the XX Bolivarian Games 2025, which are being held in this city.

With the seven medals obtained on the date, the Dominican Republic remains in the seventh place of the general medal table with a total of 52 medals: 7 gold, 14 silver and 29 bronze.

ATHLETICS

Rosa Ramírez is crowned two-time champion in shot put

Dominican Rosa Angélica Ramírez defended her title in shot put by reaching a mark of 17.44 meters, defeating Chileans Ivana Gallardo (17.22 m) and Ahymara Espinoza (17.05 m), from Venezuela. With this triumph, Ramírez becomes a two-time Bolivarian champion, after also obtaining gold in Valledupar 2022.

Women's 4x400 Relay Wins Silver

The quartet made up of Bianka Acosta Mercado, Milagros Durán García, Patricia Siné and Estrella De Aza Henrry won the silver medal with a time of 3:37.56, finishing behind Colombia, which set a games record with 3:34.10. Venezuela completed the podium with 3:39.78.

Men's 4x400 Relay Wins Bronze

The men's quartet made up of Christopher Melenciano Reyes, Lidio Andrés Feliz, Wilbert Encarnación Luis and Yeral Núñez took the bronze with a time of 3:06.52. Venezuela conquered the gold with 3:04.00, while Ecuador took the silver (3:06.07).

Cristian Rodríguez wins bronze in 110-meter hurdles

The hurdler Cristian Rodríguez Mota obtained the bronze by timing 14.39 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles final. The gold went to Marcos Herrera (Ecuador, 13.97 s) and the silver to Yohan Chaverra (Colombia, 14.18 s).

In Ayacucho, Katherine Bera Cabral (60 kg) and José Agustín Triset (+90 kg) won silver medals after losing in their respective finals. Dominican boxing concluded its participation with two silver and two bronze medals, the latter obtained by Elen Roble (51 kg) and Johan Agüero (60 kg).

KARATE

Larry Aracena wins bronze in kata

The Dominican Larry Aracena won the bronze medal in kata by defeating the Chilean Cristóbal Barra 37.9–36.3. Casanova Guerrero (Venezuela) took the gold, the Colombian Alejandro Ramírez the silver, and the other bronze went to Fernando Calderón (Guatemala). In kumite -60 kg, Aldhair Zabala Ogando was eliminated after losing his three matches.

Rowing

The mixed coxed four team, made up of Allison Galay, Jancarlos Tineo, Ignacio Vásquez and Wendy Simó Peña, finished in sixth position with a time of 1:28.68.

Skateboarding

In the men's park, Juan Fabián Ruiz took fourth place with a score of 8.76.
