The Scarletts, trailing 8-4 in the eighth inning, unleashed a furious comeback with a four-run rally capped by Severino's home run to left field off Richard Rodriguez. A walk to Erik González and a double by Sócrates Brito put men in scoring position with no outs against Burch Smith. Next, a ground ball inside the infield by Lake towards first base could not be handled by the defender Arturo Disla, allowing González to score the winning run. Stephen Nogosek (1-0) earned the victory after quickly retiring the three batters he faced in the ninth. Smith (0-1) took the loss. With the result, the Lions improve their record to 15-21, while the Eagles fall to 25-10.
