Leones del Escogido receive the 2024-25 championship rings with Junior Caminero present

SANTO DOMINGO.- The Leones del Escogido celebrated this Friday the official delivery of the 2024-2025 season champion rings, in which they conquered their 17th LIDOM crown, after prevailing in a memorable seven-game final series against the Tigres del Licey, in addition to raising their fifth Caribbean Series title, obtained in Mexico.

The event was led by the president of the Escogido Baseball Club, Eduardo Najri, accompanied by members of the red board, including Fernando Armenteros, treasurer and executive vice president; Luis Armando García, secretary; José Miguel Bonetti, director; Alfredo Najri, director; Roberto Bonetti, board member, and José Miguel Bonetti Jr. One of the most emotional moments of the ceremony was the presentation of the ring to the third baseman of the Tampa Bay Rays, Junior Caminero, who was chosen as the Most Valuable Player of the Final Series. Caminero was the protagonist of one of the most iconic plays in the recent history of Dominican baseball with the remembered “Caminerazo”, a home run over 411 feet that gave the definitive advantage to the melenudos in the ninth inning of the seventh and decisive game. Key figures from the championship, such as Sócrates Brito, author of the spectacular sliding catch in right field to seal the final out of the final; Johnny Cueto, Erik González, Franmil Reyes, Junior Lake and Héctor Rodríguez, among other players who were part of the champion team, also received their rings. Also, the members of the technical staff and the club's support staff were recognized, including coaches Tony Díaz, Israel Alcántara, Wilkin Castillo, Charlie Valerio, René Rojas, Jorge Mejía and Héctor “La Manta” De la Cruz, valuing their contribution to the organization's success. The 2024-2025 Final Series will be remembered as one of the most exciting in the history of the Dominican Professional Baseball League, as it once again pitted the Eternal Rivals, Escogido and Licey, against each other in a battle that kept the capital and the entire country on edge due to the intensity and high competitive level shown by both teams. With the delivery of the rings, the Leones del Escogido officially close a historic season and reinforce their legacy as one of the most successful franchises in Dominican baseball.
