Santo Domingo. – Dozens of people joined a peaceful protest this Sunday afternoon, mobilized – according to them – by the commitment to raise their voices in defense of the Dominican people, after learning that the Permanent Attention Office of the National District will decide on the coercive measures requested by the Public Ministry against those accused in the alleged fraud against the National Health Insurance (SeNaSa). During the demonstration, the citizens stood in an orderly manner, carrying banners and chanting slogans demanding justice, denouncing what they consider unequal treatment by the judicial system, which —they affirm— punishes the most vulnerable sectors more severely, while protecting those who commit crimes from positions of power. "We are here for the Dominican people. They denied us the right to health, they denied us therapies and, as a consequence, our children died. The real criminals are not in the neighborhoods, they are in guayaberas and with public positions," expressed the protesters, visibly indignant. You can also read:

Likewise, the participants questioned the social prejudices that, they claim, influence the application of justice. "People with tattoos are immediately judged, while the real criminals hide under a suit," they stated, demanding that the judicial process be conducted without privileges or impunity.

The protest is taking place peacefully and is marked by calls for the authorities to act with transparency and firmness in the face of a case that has generated widespread social rejection, due to the impact that the alleged fraud would have had on access to health services for thousands of Dominicans.
