Santo Domingo.
-During the immigration interdiction operations carried out by the Dominican Republic Army (ERD) during the year 2025, 180,145 undocumented Haitians were detained in different provinces of the country.

The detention of undocumented foreigners was carried out at different military checkpoints, in border patrol work and at surveillance posts established in different locations, to subsequently be handed over to the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) for the due process of repatriation. In that same period, the ERD presented to the Public Ministry a total of 885 people detained for trafficking in foreigners in irregular migratory condition and smuggling of illicit merchandise. The authorities also seized in 2025 a total of 17,344,351 units of cigarettes illegally introduced into Dominican territory, mostly of the Capital and Jalsaimer brands, seized by soldiers of the Army, assigned to different posts, detachments and checkpoints in the border region. In those border control operations, 2,790 vehicles used for the illegal transportation of people and goods were seized, including trucks, buses, jeeps, sedans, pickup trucks, minibuses, flatbeds, and motorcycles. These actions included the use of surveillance drones, ground patrols, the establishment of mobile checkpoints and nighttime operations, which allowed for the thwarting of evasion attempts, vehicular pursuits, and clandestine transfers of undocumented foreigners. The Army's General Commander, Major General Jorge Iván Camino Pérez, has recognized the work of the military personnel deployed in the different units throughout the country and reaffirmed the determination to continue strengthening border security in coordination with other State institutions. The results of these operations reflect the Army's commitment to defend national sovereignty, strengthen border security, and firmly combat the smuggling of goods and irregular migration, always acting within the framework of the law and respect for human rights.
