Santo Domingo. - The Government of the Dominican Republic, headed by President Luis Abinader, achieved historic figures in 2025 in key areas of national life, which have been showing growth in their figures since 2020.
Among the government's outstanding actions are the increase in tourist visits, the relentless fight against drug trafficking, the handling of the Melissa storm, regional logistics center, the actions taken to improve transparency policies, among others.
Tourism
The Dominican Republic reached a new milestone in the tourism sector, with the entry of 11,268,973 visitors in the period January-December 2025, thus surpassing the figures of the previous year.

Air visitors increased by 3% compared to 2019, reaching 7,884,421, while cruise passengers increased by 153%, reaching 2,399,830.
Hotel occupancy maintained its high demand and tourism revenues reached $3,250.4 million, surpassing the numbers of 2024.
Logistics and collection
The General Customs Directorate exceeded RD$266,100 million in collections, more than RD$11,300 million above the previous year, with a growth of over 4.4%.
In November, the Punta Cana Free Trade Zone (PCFTZ) was inaugurated, the first Air Logistics Center, Industrial and Free Zone Park in the region, with more than 742 thousand square meters of development.
The complex will generate more than 10,000 direct and indirect jobs, positioning the Dominican Republic as a center for advanced manufacturing, technical services, and international distribution.
Fight Against Drug Trafficking
The Dominican Republic seized more than 48.3 tons of drugs in 2025 through joint security operations and international cooperation, authorities reported this Sunday.
Within the framework of these interventions, the authorities arrested 46,367 people and seized 404 firearms, 18 vessels, dozens of outboard motors, 2,082 vehicles, as well as radionavigation equipment, communication radios, and cell phones.
Also seized were $58,408 in cash and 34,514,785 pesos, among other evidence linked to criminal networks.
The DNCD also reported that with the support of the U.S. Marshals Service, the extradition and deportation of 84 fugitives required by international justice was achieved, as part of the efforts to dismantle transnational criminal structures.

The Government stood out in its historic fight against drug trafficking and organized crime, which earned it repeated recognition from the United States.
During the administration of President Luis Abinader, 226,046 kilograms of drugs have been seized and 182,815 people have been arrested for drug-related offenses.
Furthermore, 9,685 raids and 921,823 interdictions were carried out in public spaces.
These firm actions against the scourge motivated the U.S. to request that the Dominican Republic present a candidate to lead the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), with Leandro José Villanueva Acebal being nominated for the position.
Emergency Management
The Government also gave an effective response to the passage of storm Melissa.
President Luis Abinader led the actions of the relief agencies in the face of the atmospheric phenomenon, coordinating efforts to protect lives and property. After the storm passed, RD$12,000 million was allocated to assist those affected, with soft loans and direct aid to producers and merchants.
Reconstruction work on local roads, repair of homes, and improvement of drainage channels were carried out.
Fight Against Impunity
In 2025, the Government continued with measures to combat impunity and corruption, including the creation of the Presidential Commission on Transparency and Anti-Corruption, legal reforms to toughen penalties for corruption and money laundering, the recovery of more than RD$6,500 million in funds embezzled by officials who deviated from the ethical principles of public service, as well as the dismissal of officials implicated in corruption scandals.
