Santiago. - The lifeless bodies of two young people who had been reported missing since December 31st were found buried, with apparent signs of torture and in an advanced state of decomposition, in the backyard of a house surrounded by scrub in the Don Pedro community, north of Santiago, according to what the father of one of the victims reported this Friday. The victims were identified as Raini Tomás Rodríguez Rojas, son of Mr. Agustín Rodríguez, and Rodolfo Martínez, who worked as collectors for weekly loan routes. The discovery has generated consternation, indignation, and strong social unrest among residents of the area. Visibly affected, Agustín Rodríguez assured that his son and the other young man were subjected to torture before being murdered, a statement he offered to the press while autopsies were being performed at the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF), where he went accompanied by other family members.

The double homicide occurred several days after the vehicle in which the young people were traveling was found abandoned near North High School, with traces of blood, which from that moment made a tragic outcome presumable.

Regarding the case, three Haitian citizens are in custody, while the authorities investigate the possible involvement of at least one Dominican citizen, according to information obtained during the investigative process. Rodolfo Martínez's family declined to make statements to the media.

The Public Ministry and the National Police reported that they are deepening investigations to clarify the circumstances of the crime, establish responsibilities, and bring to justice all those involved in this violent act that has shaken the community of Don Pedro and the province of Santiago.
